Who we are
Elephanta Travel was founded by Joanna and Toby Briffa — a mother-and-son team from Malta with decades of experience across India and Southeast Asia. Joanna has been travelling to India since the 1970s and holds long-standing relationships with several royal families. For the past 25 years, she has brought private groups to India while running both a decorative furniture business and highly curated group tours.
Toby lives in Vietnam, where he has spent the last 15 years — including three years living and traveling throughout India. He is the founder of a craft brewery, an artisan food company and is closely connected with Vietnam’s top hotels and restaurants, operating two well-known delis in Ho Chi Minh City.
Together, they created Elephanta Travel out of a shared belief in meaningful travel: journeys that connect deeply with place, culture, and people. Their combined heritage, networks, and lived experience allow them to design journeys that are personal, insightful, and truly unforgettable.
